Q) How are the menus different from other online programs? +

I design the meals using basic ingredients, simple preparation suggestions, and creatively using leftovers. As a mom, wife, foodie, and nutrition expert, this is how and what I eat.

Q) Will you provide recipes with the menus? +

Yes, if you consider basic cooking and seasoning suggestions a recipe. If your idea of a recipe is a long list of ingredients with instructions that require an advanced degree, then no, I don’t provide those.

Q) How long will it take me to prepare these meals? +

In general, dinner hits the table in less than 30 minutes. Some nights dinner can take 30-45 minutes to prepare. Especially if you’re cooking/grilling meat or extra for another night. A little extra prep time will save lots of time later in the week.

Q) Do I need to be an experienced cook to prepare the supper menus? +

It’s helpful to have a basic understanding of cooking methods and times. For example, if I say grilled, roasted or baked chicken you can roll with it. YSS members will receive my cooking glossary as a bonus. You don’t have to be an expert cook, you just have to be willing to try.

Q) Will you provide nutritional information for your meals? +

No. I prepare menus that are balanced with protein, veggies/fruits, starch and fats. I believe in getting back to basics with food. If your plate is balanced (and you’re not eating multiple platefuls), then there’s no need for counting or numbers.

Q) How will I know how much to put on my plate? +

YSS members get a bonus portioning guide that makes getting the right amount a snap.

Q) How will I know how much to eat? +

If we’re getting back to basics with food, it means we have to trust our bodies to do their job. We’re self-regulators naturally and how much you eat is based on your own needs. YSS members get a self-regulation tutorial.

Q) Are your meals designed to be low-fat? +

No. They’re designed to be balanced and tasty. Both of which require straight up fat. I use butter and olive oil daily. Fat is necessary for a healthy body and many low and no-fat products tend to be more processed.

Q) Is this a diet plan? +

Nope. I don’t do diets. My hope is you won’t either. Eating intelligently and intuitively works.

Q) What will I do with leftovers? +

Yes, I use leftovers every week. For example, if we have grilled steak on Sunday we may turn the leftover steak into something different on Tuesday.

Q) Our evenings are very busy. Will the menus still work for me/my family? +

Busy is the name of the game. The menus are written for Sunday through Saturday with days that have more or less cooking. You can easily switch up the days as needed to meet your own scheduling needs. The bottom line comes down to what you want to eat or feed your family. If you have to grab food out here and there, no biggie, but here and there isn’t most days.

Q) What if I have issues with food allergies? +

My supper menus are the menus I plan for my family and myself. We are fortunate not to suffer from food allergies. It’s likely you’ll find it easy to substitute or omit potential allergens on the menus.

Q) What if I don't eat meat? +

This is likely not the product for you. Like I mentioned, these menus are what I plan for myself and my family. We like meat, fish, poultry, pork, eggs, dairy, etc.

Q) What if I'm feeding picky eaters? +

If it’s you, this may be your opportunity to broaden your food horizons. If it’s a child, my menus offer similar foods prepared many different ways. This is an ideal way to help our picky eaters accept more foods. Did you know it can take 10-15 introductions of a food to even know if you like it?

Q) Will this be too much food if I'm cooking for one? +

You can choose how much or little of the menu you would like to prepare. However, you may choose to cook more for leftover options.

Q) Will you incorporate kid food? +

No. I believe food is food. If dinner is Italian chicken, then dinner is Italian chicken for everyone. Of course, modifications of the menus are always up to you.

Q) Do you ever plan in desserts? +

Did someone say chocolate? Yes, dessert/sweet items are on the menu weekly. You’ll love how it’s incorporated with the meal instead of after it.

Q) Will I be spending more time in the grocery store? +

Well that depends if you dine out for supper most of the time. If that’s a yes, you may be spending a little more time grocery shopping (or you may just be learning how). Otherwise, it’s likely you’ll shop twice a week. Once for the things on your handy YSS list and once for extra produce and the things you forgot the first time.

Q) Do your menus require special cooking equipment? +

Occasionally, I’ll throw in slow cooker menu items and I frequently grill (indoor grill/grill pan or outdoor grill). Baking or roasting can be an alternative cooking method if needed.
